sylvia

Andrew and Marie would like to nominate Sylvia (aka mom) for a million reasons, but we’ll only list a few today.

Sylvia is a wonderful wife, mother, “mother in law” and teacher. She is one of the most giving and selfless people we have ever met. She constantly gives to her family, friends and students and never asks for anything in return. She is always encouraging us and her students to follow our dreams. Never judging and always going above and beyond to help those dreams come true.

As her son, I could never have wished or asked for a better mother. Supportive and encouraging in everything I have done. I don’t think once in my life she has ever disappointed me. Whenever I have a problem or question she is there to give her best loving opinion or solution. Never does she do favors expecting things in return, but only out of the goodness of her heart. She is a perfect mom and is extremely deserving of a day of pampering.

As her daughter in law, I have never felt more supported even by my own family. When I started my business she 100% supported and encouraged me to keep at it. She was there when I couldn’t afford employees to help me get the job done. She tells everyone she meets how amazing my business is and how proud she is of me for starting it. When times got hard, she pushed me to keep at it and made sure I didn’t give up. I see and know how involved she wants to be in our lives. Not that she ever could, but she’s so careful to not intrude. I am so very lucky and happy to be a part of her life.

Last year, she was awarded teacher of the year by the students of Craig High School.

  • “Duncan’s “incredible character and wonderful teaching methods inspire her students to work hard,” Norris wrote in her nomination.
  • “She connected with us as kids,” Norris said. “She sat down in the desks with us and she brought herself down to our level.
  • “She wasn’t a teacher – she was just another one of us.”
  • Norris plans to become a teacher after high school. She said Duncan’s example was a driving factor in her decision to follow in the profession.
  • “I think that it really inspired me to help other kids because she works so hard,” she said.
  • Duncan’s teaching style also impressed Norris.
  • “She encourages hands-on lessons that allow us to interact with our peers and let our imaginations run wild,” Norris wrote.”

A General post on facebook was written about teachers and the first thought that came to an old students mind was this “In my opinion, for what its worth, teachers like the Duncans are worth Michigan’s weight in gold.”

Even though she is so loved and so helpful to everyone, you would never know it in how humble she is. Sylvia would never do something like this for herself which is why we want her to have this wonderful package on Mothers day.
